Description

Sure-Sile Wholecrop is a safe, simple to use, biological solution for treating wholecrop cereal silage.
The combination of Microferms unique heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria lead to a cool and stable clamp with excellent animal performance.

Wholecrop silage can be prone to spoilage caused by air creeping through the clamp which allows the growth of spoilage organisms such as yeast and mould to grow.

Control

The bacteria used in Sure Sile Wholecrop are two unique strains of heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria. Together they rapidly dominate the fermentation to produce higher levels of acetic acid which will inhibit the growth of yeast and mould in wholecrop silage.

Stability

The increase in Acetic acid is crucial as the acetic acid inhibits the growth of moulds, which produce mycotoxins and yeast which generates heat as it grows. The heat is wasted energy from the silage and leads to lower intakes and poor animal performance. In trials the stability was improved by 161 hours(7 days) compared to untreated.

Application and Usage

Sure Sile Wholecrop is available in both standard liquid application sachets and ULV format bottles, each sachet treats 25t and and is applied at 1-2 litres per tonne of forage. The ULV bottle treats 50t and is applied from 10ml to 2 litres per tonne of forage.

The mixed product should be used with two days.

Clamp Management and Wholecrop

It is particularly important with wholecrop silage to ensure the clamp is well consolidated and the sheeting is completely airtight. Sheeting should consist of a lightweight sheet and a heavier separate black sheet including side sheets which are covered by the top sheets. This needs to be covered with a heavy woven cover and the equivalent weight of touching car tyres.
