Description

4 x 250g (100 Treated Tonnes)

Sure-Sile Maize is a biological treatment for maize silage. Maize silage ferments very easily but suffers from aerobic spoilage often called secondary fermentation. Sure-Sile Maize reduces heating and mould growth in maize silage leading to stable cool silage which feeds well and will maximise animal performance. Mould growth in maize silage can lead to mycotoxins being produced which reduce intakes and can have serious health implications. By reducing the growth of mould mycotoxin production is minimised in Sure-Sile Maize treated silage.

Stability

In trials Sure Sile Maize treated silage stayed cool for 8x longer than untreated maize silage. This gives stability both in the clamp and in the feed passage

Spoilage Reduction

The key to aerobic stability in maize silage is to keep the spoilage organism level low. Sure-Sile Maize in trials kept the yeast level to 1/100 of the level found in untreated silage. Yeast growth is the main cause of heating in silage.

Fermentation Control

Sure-Sile Maize contains both heterofermentative and homofermentative strains of bacteria which work together to rapidly control the fermentation and then increase the ratio of acetic to lactic acid to inhibit spoilage organisms. In trials the ratio of acetic to lactic acid was increased by 50%. Sure-Sile Maize reduces the enzyme activity in maize silage rapidly. Enzyme activity is responsible for losses of energy such as the breakdown of valuable starch. By inhibiting enzyme activity rapidly the energy content of the silage is maintained for maximum animal performance.

Usage and Application

Sure-Sile Maize is supplied in both standard liquid application sachets and ULV format bottles, each sachet treats 25t and each ULV bottle treats 50t. The sachets can be applied from 05 to 2 litres per tonne. ULV bottles can be used from 10ml per tome to 2 litres per tonne.
